Nephrolepis Duffii

The Lemon Button Fern is a seriously cute little plant! It has gorgeous little button shaped leaves that have a lemon scent.

It's a very low maintenance fern, happy in a lot of different temperature and light situations. It also responds very well to trimming and rarely grows over 30cm. It can also be easily propagated by splitting the root base.

It looks great in either open terrariums or closed terrariums and is happy in either one. If you're trying to create a woodland vibe then pop this in your terrarium!

Bonus points - It's also nontoxic to pets so it's a great choice if you have furbabies.

It is very low maintenance (bonus points!) and grows well in both open terrariums and closed terrariums.

Nephrolepis Cotton Candy

The Cotton Candy Fern is soft, fluffy and fuzzy with bright green fronds. It looks great planted in a terrarium as it adds softness and gives off rainforest vibes. The fronds have interesting delicate shapes that draw your eye to it.

It loves humidity and needs to be kept moist so this is a perfect choice for closed terrariums.

Add a little bit of fluffy fun to your glass!

Bonus points - It's also nontoxic to pets so it's a great choice if you have furbabies.

Syngonium Pixie

Syngonium Pixie is also known as the Dwarf Arrowhead Plant. It is a very cute miniature variety with teeny tiny arrow shaped leaves. The leaves have creamy white centres and with a deep green edge.

It stays very bushy and compact and requires basically no maintenance - the odd trim back every so often but there will probably be no need unless it's in a tiny terrarium. It is very easy going which makes it perfect for both open terrariums and closed terrariums.

A very easy going choice with lovely colours and contrasts.

Groundcover

Fittonia 'Jungle Flame'

Fittonia 'Jungle Flame' is a gorgeous little groundcover plant with deep red leaves and green veins. It is bold and beautiful!

Fittonia is a classic terrarium plant that stays nice and low and adds a vibrant mass of colour to your terrarium - a bit like a colourful carpet hugging the surface.

It grows well in both open terrariums and closed terrariums but I find that it really pops in closed types. The high humidity helps it thrive and the colours almost look like little jewels. I use Fittonias in nearly all of my terrarium builds. In my opinion, it's a must have in your terrarium!

Bonus points - It's also nontoxic to pets so it's a great choice if you have furbabies.
