Strobilanthes dyerianus, also known as Persian Shield, is a very striking plant with stunning iridescent purple foliage.
This plant thrives outdoors in a spot that has morning sun and afternoon shade. It can also be grown indoors in an area that has lots of natural bright light.
It will not tolerate frost and will drop some leaves in winter if you live in a cooler area.
To keep the plant nice and bushy I find it is best to pinch the flowers out.
They hate having wet feet so free draining potting mix is essential. I would also advise not to leave them in a saucer or tray after watering, let them drain for a bit.
Pictured in a 13cm pot, it will be posted potted.
