Microsorum diversifolium, commonly known as The Kangaroo Paw Fern, is a hardy and large growing fern.
POSITION Reasonable light levels are needed. A Kangaroo Paw Fern will accept some full sun and some quite shady areas, but for a happy and healthy looking plant you should aim for a fairly bright spot which does not receive harsh sunlight.
They're quite sensitive to chemicals and the smoke from coal fires or wood burners are fairly toxic, draughts must also be avoided. This means your choice of placement will need to be considered quite carefully if your home has any of these features.
WATER Through the warmer months it will need to be watered quite frequently - at least once a week.
In winter, allow kokedama to fully dry out before watering. This can roughly be every 1-2 weeks.
The general rule is thumb is to submerge your kokedama ball only when it feels light-weight.
Add a little bit of diluted soluble fertiliser to watering around once a month in summer.
HOW TO WATER Fully submerge your kokedama in a bowl, sink or bucket. You may need to hold it under for a moment. Allow to soak for 10-15 minutes until kokedama feels heavy and full.
Next you will need to squeeze the kokedama gently to remove any excess water. Press the sides gently between the palms of your hands and towards the base of the kokedama. Doing this will mean that your kokedama is not waterlogged and it will help to prolong the life of the moss and the twine as these are biodegradable.
We make each Kokedama to order, using the highest quality plants, soil, moss and twine. It will be packed with care instructions in a gift box. Extra twine will also be included to provide you with the option of hanging your kokedama.
Ball diameter is approximately 12-15cm
