Melocactus matanzanus is a small cactus with bright green stem, rounded ribs and greyish-white spines. It grows 9cm x 9cm.
This cactus produces cephalium. The cephalium is a dense mass of areoles covered with white wool and red bristles at the top of the cactus. Pink flowers appear on top of the cephalium during the summer.
A very unusual cactus for the serious collectors.
POSITION
It prefers partial shade - morning sun and afternoon shade suits them well.
WATER+SOIL
It should not be allowed to completely dry out. Establish a balance with good aeration , watering and good quality, free draining potting mix and it should be quite happy.
Pictured here in a 9cm pot, it will be posted bare-rooted.
